What is CoolPeel?

CoolPeel is a laser skin resurfacing treatment made possible by the SmartXide Tetra CO2 laser. CO2 laser treatments are ideal for treating skin imperfections, complexion issues and blemishes, and signs of aging for younger-looking skin. These lasers are ablative, which means that they work by creating controlled thermal damage to the superficial layer of skin tissue without damaging surrounding tissues. The CoolPeel CO2 resurfacing treatment delivers heat energy to tighten the skin and promote the production of new collagen for a smoother and more youthful appearance.¹

What makes CoolPeel different is that, unlike traditional CO2 skin resurfacing lasers, the Tetra ablative laser treatment delivers high energy in very precise, short pulses. This means that treated skin experiences less lingering heat than with other lasers (hence the name CoolPeel), leading to less damage to surrounding skin and a faster, milder recovery and a lower likelihood of side effects like hyperpigmentation.²

Preparing for CoolPeel

The CoolPeel laser treatment is a fast and gentle ablative treatment, so the only thing you need to do to prepare for your session is to attend a consultation with one of our experienced providers. During this meeting, you will be able to candidly discuss your skin concerns and goals. You’ll learn more about the benefits of CoolPeel, then together you will decide whether CoolPeel is the right treatment for you.

The CoolPeel Procedure

CoolPeel treatment sessions take 15 minutes or less and are so comfortable that most patients do not request numbing cream. You’ll simply relax as your medical provider, PA, or NP gently passes the laser device over the treatment area.

CoolPeel Recovery

Recovery time after CoolPeel treatment is minimal. Your skin may be red for a day or two and have the sensation of a mild sunburn. Some dryness and/or peeling can also be expected. Keeping your skin hydrated and avoiding sun exposure will help resolve this and promote faster healing. Your provider will give you instructions about sun protection and whether you should avoid specific skin care products as your skin heals.

Frequently Asked Questions About CoolPeel

Is CoolPeel painful?

No. The CoolPeel laser is very gentle and most patients do not require numbing cream. Some patients do report feeling a mild tingling sensation.

How many CoolPeel treatments will I need?

One of the best things about CoolPeel is how quickly it works. Most of our patients achieve their desired results after only 2 to 3 CoolPeel sessions.

When will I see CoolPeel results?

Most of our patients begin to notice more youthful, glowing skin within 3 to 4 days of their CoolPeel treatment and results will only become more pronounced in the weeks and months to follow.

Who is a Candidate for CoolPeel?

If you want to reduce the appearance of sun damage, texture, and fine lines, you may be a good candidate for CoolPeel.

Can I combine other treatments with coolpeel?

Yes! We often recommend combining CoolPeel with RF microneedling. Combining these two treatments can potentially provide synergistic effects. The CoolPeel laser can enhance the effects of microneedling by further promoting collagen production and improving the overall skin rejuvenation process. It may also help with the absorption of topical serums or creams applied during or after microneedling.
