FDA Warns Against the Use of Dermal Fillers with Needle-Free Devices
At Deep Blue Med Spa, patient safety is our number one priority. For that reason, we believe it is imperative to not only provide expert insight, but to also offer caution when it comes to dangerous, over-the-counter products and devices.
Recently the FDA issued a statement warning about the use of dermal fillers with needle-free devices. These direct to consumer products, which are being promoted on social media to improve wrinkles, increase lip volume, and change the shape of the nose, can result in irreversible injury.
The FDA also points out that FDA-approved dermal fillers are for prescription use only, and should be administered by licensed health care professionals using a syringe with a needle or cannula, and advises consumers not to buy or use lip or facial fillers sold directly to the public.
To the patients at Deep Blue, our lead PA-C Melissa Colletti-White warns “These devices are not in a licensed individual’s hands, and they are leading to permanent scarring. If you are looking for lip augmentation or a nonsurgical rhinoplasty, please reach out to an experienced injector, then have a consult to determine what is the right treatment for you.”
